Meloni warns: Deepfakes becoming wider threat PHOTO
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has warned about the growing threat posed by deepfakes, highlighting the risks of artificial intelligence being used to create misleading content.
According to a post she published on the social media platform X, several AI-generated images falsely depicting her have been circulating online in recent days, as per Caliber.Az.
“In recent days, several fake photos of me created using artificial intelligence and presented by some overzealous opponents as real have been circulating online.
I must admit that whoever made them — at least in the case I am attaching — even made me look quite a bit better. But the fact remains: in order to attack and fabricate lies, today, absolutely anything is being used.
However, this issue concerns not only me. Deepfakes are a dangerous tool because they can mislead, manipulate and target anyone. I can defend myself. Many others cannot.
Therefore, one rule must always apply: check before you believe, and believe before you share. Because today it happened to me, and tomorrow it could happen to anyone,” she wrote.
Meloni emphasised that while she is able to respond to such attacks, many others may be more vulnerable to manipulation, urging the public to verify information before trusting or sharing it.
Girano in questi giorni diverse mie foto false, generate con l’intelligenza artificiale e spacciate per vere da qualche solerte oppositore.
