The event was organized jointly by the Culture and Cinematography Commission of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies and the National Association of World Heritage Cities of Mexico, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Mexico, Mammad Talibov, delivered a key address on "Modernity and the Preservation of World Heritage Sites." He emphasized the Azerbaijani government's commitment to safeguarding historical landmarks, particularly focusing on Baku's rich history and the Icherisheher historical and architectural complex. Ambassador Talibov outlined the extensive efforts made to protect these sites, underscoring Azerbaijan's proactive approach to balancing heritage conservation with modern urban development.

The Ambassador also highlighted Baku's growing tourism potential, which is enhanced by its new architectural landmarks and ongoing improvements to the city's environmental conditions. He noted the importance of international cooperation and shared Azerbaijan's experience in hosting significant global events aimed at promoting cultural heritage.

Among the distinguished attendees were Alma Lidia De La Vega Sánchez, Chair of the Culture and Cinematography Commission of Mexico; Enrique Francisco Galindo Ceballos, Chair of the National Association of World Heritage Cities of Mexico; and Jorge Ortega González, the Association’s General Director. Additionally, Fernanda Lonardoni, Head of the UN-Habitat program for Mexico, Cuba, and Central America, joined the discussion, along with mayors from several UNESCO-listed cities, including Guanajuato, Zacatecas, and Campeche.

The meeting provided an important platform for exchanging ideas on how to balance tourism development with the preservation of historical centers.
