Midi Libre: French to face inevitable winter power cuts
15 October 2022 12:59
Philippe Page Le Merur, the secretary of the central corporate social committee of EDF, told a meeting of the company's social and economic committee that power cuts in France, despite the temperatures in winter, will not be avoided.
According to Midi Libre, cuts in electricity consumption will be unavoidable even in the event of a normally cold winter. Previously, EDF had only envisaged such a scenario in the event of a very cold winter.
"If we have a normally cold winter or a very cold winter, we will not be able to do without load shedding," said Le Merur.
The statement came after the unions announced a strike that would affect eight of EDF's nuclear reactors.
