Milli Majlis denounces Dutch Parliament's anti-Azerbaijani resolutions

12 October 2024 16:12

The Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament), has formally condemned two resolutions recently passed by the House of Representatives of the Dutch Parliament, labelling them as politically biased and unjustly targeting Azerbaijan while misrepresenting the situation in the South Caucasus.

The Milli Majlis described the resolutions as grounded in false information that detracts from efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability, and constructive dialogue in the region. The Parliament emphasized that these resolutions exhibit a one-sided perspective that disregards the established facts and principles of international law, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

A particular point of contention was the demand for the release of individuals accused of serious crimes within Azerbaijan, including acts of terrorism and violations of international humanitarian law, which were characterized as "Armenian prisoners of war." The Milli Majlis criticized this demand as a blatant disregard for the rule of law and detrimental to the fight against terrorism and accountability for crimes against humanity.

Additionally, the Parliament took issue with allegations regarding the looting of Armenian cultural heritage, asserting that such claims are part of a broader campaign to ignore the systematic destruction and appropriation of Azerbaijani cultural, religious, and historical values during the prolonged occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia. The Milli Majlis lamented the Dutch Parliament's oversight of the devastation inflicted upon Azerbaijani cultural heritage.

In conclusion, the Milli Majlis urged Dutch lawmakers and senior officials to cease actions that undermine peace and stability efforts in the South Caucasus. It expressed a commitment to constructive dialogue and collaboration with all nations, including the Netherlands, but insisted that such interactions must be founded on mutual respect and a genuine acknowledgment of facts.
