"One of the most important sectors to achieve is the defence industry. Our goal is to take our defence industry to the highest level with an efficient, local, and innovative understanding on a global scale in the 'Turkish Century'. In this direction, our country will no longer be a critical technology market, but a manufacturing base.
To date, we have successfully completed many critical projects such as the production of our smart high-precision munitions, our UAVs, warships, and helicopters.
We recently delivered the TCG ANADOLU to our Navy and our Altay tank to our Army. We have sent our IMECE surveillance satellite into space under the command of our Air Force, and we have implemented and are carrying out many more projects that some consider dreams. We hope that soon we will see our national submarine in our seas and our national combat aircraft, KAAN, in our skies. Every step taken in defence and security, every project implemented symbolises Türkiye's strength, which has become an important player in the international market," the minister said.
Akar said Türkiye will continue to fight terrorism in the region and support friendly countries.
"We fight all terrorist organisations, particularly PKK/PYD-YPG, ISIL, and FETÖ, to protect our rights and interests in the seas and airspace. We also support the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Azerbaijan, and Libya, and continue to contribute to peace both in the region and around the world," Hulusi Akar stressed.
