Moscow confirms Lavrov's participation in "3+3" meeting in Tehran

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has confirmed the participation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in the talks in Tehran to be held on 23 October.

"We confirm Lavrov's planned talks in Tehran on Monday [October 22]," TASS quotes her as saying.

Earlier, the IRNA news agency reported that the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, Russia and Türkiye will hold a meeting within the framework of the "3+3" format in Tehran on 23 October. According to the agency, the sides will discuss issues of regional cooperation in political, economic, transport, energy and security spheres.

Before that, on 20 October, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan said that he would participate in the meeting in Tehran.

The first meeting in the 3+3 format was held last year in Moscow without Georgia's participation.
