Moscow court fines Twitch, Pinterest, Google over “prohibited content”

27 April 2026 18:54

A court in Moscow has imposed fines on several major technology companies, including Twitch Interactive, for failing to comply with Russian regulations on removing content deemed illegal.

According to the joint press service of Moscow’s courts of general jurisdiction, the Tagansky District Court ruled on April 27, 2026, that Twitch and Pinterest had committed administrative offenses under Part 3 of Article 13.50 of Russia’s Code of Administrative Offenses. Each company was fined 3.5 million rubles, Caliber.Az reports via ASTRA.

“On April 27, 2026, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow found Pinterest Inc. and Twitch Interactive Inc. guilty of committing administrative offenses under Part 3 of Article 13.50 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation and imposed administrative penalties in the form of administrative fines of 3,500,000 rubles on each organization,” the court’s press service said in a statement.

The court also fined Google LLC 19 million rubles under a separate provision — Part 2 of Article 13.41 — which covers violations related to restricting access to information prohibited under Russian law.

The ruling follows reports that Twitch recently blocked accounts of Russian streamers accused of promoting “Alabuga Polytechnic,” an institution that has drawn scrutiny in Russian media coverage.

This marks the first fine against Twitch since December 2025, when the platform was held administratively liable twice, according to earlier statements from Moscow’s court authorities.
