Moscow court remands four Latvian nationals over drug production
A court in Moscow has ordered the pre-trial detention of four Latvian nationals accused of producing 234 kilograms of methadone for distribution, according to Russian law enforcement authorities.
The Ostankinsky Court granted investigators' request to remand the four suspects in custody, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The suspects have been charged under Part 5 of Article 228 of the Russian Criminal Code, which covers the illegal production of narcotic drugs on an especially large scale by a group acting in concert.
According to the authorities, the four are accused of producing 234 kilograms of methadone with the intention of distributing the наркотic.
Court documents reviewed by TASS identified the defendants as Cēris Raimonds, Cēris Ojarse, Ivanovse Romans and Širokovse Konstantinise.
Law enforcement officials said the suspects are Latvian citizens and alleged that the drug laboratory was located in Moscow's Dmitrovsky District.
