Moscow’s Shahed drones breach Polish skies amid mass strike on Ukraine
In the early hours of Wednesday, September 10, Russian attack drones targeted not only Ukraine but also violated Poland’s airspace, prompting the deployment of fighter jets to counter the threat.
RBC-Ukraine summarised the key developments from Russia’s overnight assault on Ukraine and Poland:
-
Dozens of drones and missiles were launched by Russia overnight;

Attack UAVs breached Polish airspace;
-
Four airports in Poland were temporarily closed, with three voivodeships under threat;
-
Explosions were reported in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Lutsk, and Zhytomyr.
According to Ukrainian reports, Russia initially launched several groups of attack drones from multiple directions, moving from the east and south toward western regions of Ukraine.
At around 1 a.m. on September 10, it was confirmed that Shahed drones had crossed from Ukraine into Poland, marking a direct attack on a NATO member state.
By early morning, Ukraine’s Air Force reported a wave of cruise missiles entering the country’s airspace—some from the north, others from the south—also heading westward.
