Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport hit by severe transport chaos video
Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport is experiencing a transport collapse due to severe weather, and arrival restrictions have been introduced, ASTRA reports.
On the morning of January 10, Sheremetyevo Airport announced that it was closing to incoming flights because of heavy snowfall. Initially, the restrictions were set to last until 8 a.m., but they were later extended to 10 a.m.
Since the evening of January 9, around three thousand people have accumulated in the arrivals area, waiting for hours to receive their luggage. Many passengers also had to remain seated on planes for hours after landing, as the roads between the aircraft and the terminal had not been cleared, passengers complained.
Sheremetyevo’s operational headquarters reported that baggage belonging to passengers of Aeroflot and Rossiya Airlines would be delivered individually to their home addresses. To receive the service, passengers must fill out a feedback form on Aeroflot’s website and provide their flight details and delivery address.
