Russia foils criminal group funding terror attacks in country VIDEO

15 September 2025 12:35

Russian security services, including the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Investigative Committee, have dismantled an organised criminal group accused of illegally transferring 2.5 billion rubles (approximately $29.6 million) out of Russia and using the funds to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to the Russian Investigative Committee’s Telegram channel, the group members are charged with conducting illegal currency operations, unlawful payment transactions, and aiding terrorist activities, Caliber.Az reports.

Investigators determined that between 2022 and 2024, the beneficiary of an international holding company, a Latvian citizen, deliberately organised the transfer of funds from microfinance institutions under his control in Moscow, Samara, and Saint Petersburg in violation of Russian law. These assets were then moved abroad for personal enrichment.

The criminal group allegedly carried out around 500 bank transfers, totalling more than 2.5 billion rubles.

The Investigative Committee added that the two defendants also transferred money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and provided them with transport, which was subsequently used for terrorist activities in Russia.

Five people have been detained in connection with this case, and another suspect has been placed on an international wanted list. Preventive measures have been imposed on all of them.
