Nationwide emergency alert system test underway across Russia
Emergency sirens and public address systems have been activated across the Russian Federation as part of a comprehensive test of the country’s emergency warning infrastructure.
The nationwide drill is being conducted by the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) to assess the readiness and functionality of Russia’s public alert systems in the event of a national emergency, Caliber.Az reports.
The test includes the temporary interruption of scheduled television and radio programming, allowing emergency broadcast messages to be transmitted directly to the public. In Moscow and the surrounding Moscow Oblast, the alert sirens are scheduled to sound three times throughout the day, within the window of 10:43 am to 16:00 pm local time.
