Newly released FBI records detail alleged UFO crewmen encounters PHOTO
Newly declassified FBI records released under President Donald Trump’s UFO transparency initiative have reignited debate over unidentified flying objects, including reports from the 1960s describing alleged encounters with “three and a half to four feet tall” beings emerging from mysterious craft, Daily Mail reports.
The files, published on May 8 as part of a broader disclosure effort ordered by the Trump administration, include hundreds of documents, photographs and videos uploaded to the Department of War’s website. The material features NASA mission transcripts, military incident reports and infrared images connected to aerial encounters.
Among the most discussed documents is an internal FBI memo dated October 19, 1966, sent from the bureau’s San Francisco office to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover under the subject line “Unidentified Flying Objects.”
The memo reviewed reports claiming that 1965 was “the year of the greatest number of UFO sightings” witnessed around the world. It summarized accounts of metallic craft capable of hovering silently, traveling at “fantastic speeds,” and interfering with electromagnetic equipment.
One section detailed alleged encounters with occupants of the craft. “A few witnesses have reported seeing crewmen who had landed from the objects,” the document stated, describing the beings as “three and a half to four feet tall, wearing what appear to be space suits and helmets.”
The memo also referenced claims that wreckage from crashed saucers had been recovered on several occasions. Materials were described as magnesium alloys, pure magnesium and an “exceptionally hard unknown metal” containing microscopic metallic spheres.
The document heavily referenced the book Flying Saucers – Serious Business by Frank Edwards, which argued that UFOs were “space vehicles sent to observe activities on earth.” According to the file, Edwards claimed the US Air Force had “deliberately withheld information and given misleading explanations because it fears a mass panic by the public if the public were told the truth.”
Representative Tim Burchett, a longtime advocate for UFO disclosure, reacted on X by saying: “The 1st drop will be big, but in comparison to what is coming they will be a drop in the bucket. I would say ‘Holy Crap’ is coming.”
Despite the sensational claims, officials cautioned that the records largely compile witness testimony and historical reports rather than independently verified evidence of extraterrestrial life.
