Nine killed in shooting near LA among Lunar New Year celebrations

At least nine people have been killed in a mass shooting near the US city of Los Angeles following a Lunar New Year celebration that attracted thousands of viewers.

As Al Jazeera reported citing the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting took place late on January 21 (local time) and occurred at a business in Monterey Park, a city of about 60,000 people with a large Asian population that’s about 16km (10 miles) from downtown Los Angeles.
