Nokia CEO: World to be free of smartphones by 2030
Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark has predicted the emergence of the 6G communication standard by 2030.
He also expects that from that moment, humanity will begin to actively abandon smartphones and use completely new gadgets, according to CNBC.
"By that time, the smartphone as we know it today will definitely cease to be the most common interface. Many of these devices will be built directly into our bodies," said the top manager, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Lundmark is confident that by the late 2020s, humanity will begin to switch to smart glasses and other gadgets that people will wear on their face.
He added that by 2030, the technology of creating digital twins, close to the idea of a metaverse, will appear in the world. However, the head of Nokia explained that such a technology would require computing resources many times more powerful than the current ones.
Earlier it was reported that in the first quarter of 2022, the import of push-button phones to Russia increased by 43 per cent, and the supply of smartphones, on the contrary, decreased by 14 per cent.
