Norwegian PM touches down in Kyiv, signaling stronger ties
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre arrived in Kyiv today, underscoring the deepening support and solidarity between Norway and Ukraine.
The visit was confirmed by Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, who shared the news on Telegram, Caliber.Az reports.
“Together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, we met the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre,” Yermak stated.
Highlighting the significance of Norway's backing, Yermak added, “It is important for us to feel the support of real allies. Norway is always close to our people, significantly helps the defenders, and we appreciate this reliable solidarity.”
The visit coincides with a broader diplomatic engagement, as Germany’s Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil also paid a visit to Kyiv today, reinforcing European commitment to Ukraine.
In a further demonstration of support, the Norwegian government has pledged nearly $100 million to Ukraine, designated for the procurement of imported natural gas. This substantial aid aims to bolster Ukraine’s energy security amid ongoing challenges.
