Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery suspends operations after drone attack

The Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant in Russia’s Rostov Region has temporarily suspended operations after being damaged in a drone attack, regional Governor Yuri Slyusar said on Friday, September 25.

Slyusar said the facility sustained damage during an overnight attack on the region. No injuries were reported.

According to the governor, Russian air defences destroyed around 50 drones over the Rostov Region during the night.

The Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant, also known as NZNP, is an oil-refining facility and the only operating refinery in the Rostov Region. It is also the largest supplier of petroleum products to southern Russia.

The facility has previously been affected by drone attacks, including an incident in August that also resulted in a temporary suspension of operations.
