OECD cooperates with Azerbaijan to expand green growth opportunities
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has trained Azerbaijani experts on green public investment programmes, including the legal framework, management tools and methods for selecting investment projects.
The organisation has conducted many different regional capacity-building and networking activities on environmental compliance with the active participation of Azerbaijan, an OECD source told Trend.
"The OECD organised a thematic workshop on environmental solutions following the April meeting on the national development plan in this area. The meeting generated interest from government and private sector participants in this topic, and further work will be deployed to realise the country's ambitious environmental and water management activities. In the future, it is planned to assess the favourable environment for water financing in Azerbaijan and provide key recommendations," the source noted.
According to the OECD, a new online self-assessment tool for greening small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has helped Azerbaijani businesses assess their environmental performance.
"The forthcoming 2024 edition of the OECD e-book 'Environmental Brief in the Eastern Partnership Countries' will shed light on current data collection processes, availability and gaps in environmental data, and promote the use of evidence to inform policymakers in this area," the OECD said.
