Official: Russia to consider Iran's interests in talks with US
Deputy Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Abbas Moghtadaei, has affirmed that Russia always considers the position of its allies and will certainly factor in Iran's interests during its negotiations with the US.
Speaking on Iran’s strategic partnerships, Moghtadaei highlighted that Iran has long-term agreements with both Russia and China, two countries that consistently prioritize the interests of their allies in foreign policy dealings, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
"Thus, Russia will take into account Iran’s interests in its negotiations with the US," Moghtadaei stated, underscoring the close and strategic ties among the three nations.
Iran and Russia have maintained a strong and strategic relationship for many years, driven by mutual geopolitical, economic, and security interests. Both countries share a common interest in countering Western influence, especially from the US and its allies, and have collaborated on various international issues, including the Syrian conflict, where both have supported President Bashar al-Assad's government. Additionally, Russia and Iran have forged long-term agreements in areas like nuclear energy, with Russia assisting in the construction of nuclear reactors in Iran.
