Official: UN actively supports protection of women's rights in Azerbaijan
UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva has said that the UN actively supports the idea of protecting and expanding women's rights in Azerbaijan.
Andreeva made these remarks at the international conference on women empowerment in Baku, according to Report.
She noted that the issue of ensuring women's rights is an integral part of the UN agenda.
“Today we must use all kinds of platforms for dialogue on gender equality,” Andreeva added.
The UN resident coordinator emphasised that positive results in gender equality and women's empowerment could inspire new initiatives in this sphere in the future.
To recap, an international conference of the Non-Aligned Movement on advancing the rights and empowerment of women has kicked off in Baku.
Various interactive panel discussions will be organized within the two-day conference.
Azerbaijan's Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva, Chairperson of the Board of the State Examination Center Maleika Abbaszade, Azerbaijan's first Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova, other officials and deputies attended the opening ceremony.
Representatives of 9 international organizations, including the UN, ISESCO, and the International Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage, take part in the conference.
Experts from Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Sudan, Russia, Indonesia, Egypt, Venezuela, Palestine, India, United Arab Emirates and other countries are also among the participants of the event.
