An oil depot in Russia’s Volgograd region caught fire after debris from a Ukrainian Armed Forces drone fell on the facility, regional governor Andrei Bocharov announced on January 9. His remarks were published by the regional administration’s press service.
Preliminary information indicates that there were no casualties.
“In the Oktyabrsky district, a fire was recorded at an oil depot following the fall of UAV debris. Firefighters, emergency response units, and municipal personnel are currently working at the site,” Bocharov stated.
The authorities have also prepared a temporary accommodation centre at Oktyabrskaya School No. 2 in case an evacuation of residents from nearby homes becomes necessary, the statement added.
