Oman, Afghanistan condemn US-Israeli strikes on Iran
Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi held a phone conversation with his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, focusing on rising tensions in the Middle East following US-Israeli joint airstrikes on Iran since February 28.
A statement from the Afghan Foreign Ministry shared on X says the two officials described recent developments in the Middle East as “alarming” and condemned the military operations by the United States and Israel against Iran, as well as the potential spread of conflict to neighbouring countries, Caliber.Az reports.
The discussion also covered Afghanistan’s relations with Pakistan, with Minister Muttaqi reiterating Kabul’s position on Islamabad’s actions and the country’s right to defensive measures. Both sides emphasised the importance of diplomatic solutions and dialogue to address regional disputes and prevent further escalation.
For the record, Afghanistan and Oman maintain historically cordial ties, with both countries advocating for stability and non-interference in regional conflicts.
