Oman: Mina al Fahal terminal continues operations after explosion report
Petroleum Development Oman LLC has said operations at the Mina al Fahal terminal are continuing normally, following reports of a temporary suspension of oil loading after an alleged explosion near its offshore berths.
Three sources told Reuters earlier that crude loading had been halted after an incident close to the terminal’s single-buoy mooring (SBM) 1 and 2 facilities. The disruption was reportedly linked to an alleged drone attack, although this has not been independently verified.
The company did not confirm any suspension, but said on Friday that operations remained unaffected.
Shipping data from LSEG indicated several supertankers were anchored offshore near the facility, which is a key export point for Omani crude. The terminal handles an estimated 800,000 to 900,000 barrels of oil per day.
The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions in and around the Gulf of Oman. Iranian state media earlier this week claimed Tehran had targeted a US military vessel operating in the area, allegations denied by US Central Command.
