OSCE PA highlights Azerbaijan’s experience in digital development PHOTO
The activities of Azerbaijan’s Digital Development Council were presented during the 33rd Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in The Hague.
The session is focused on issues related to the rule of international law, peace and cooperation, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Azerbaijan is represented at the event by a delegation from the Milli Majlis (parliament) led by MP Gaya Mammadov.
In his address, Mammadov identified double standards and selective approaches as among the main reasons for the unsatisfactory state of compliance with international legal norms and principles. He stressed the need to protect and respect the principles of sovereignty and the sovereign equality of states as fundamental values.
The head of the Azerbaijani delegation also emphasized the importance of applying international law in the digital sphere and safeguarding states’ digital sovereignty amid the growing use of information technologies, including the rapid development of artificial intelligence.
Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan’s progressive policies aimed at maintaining an optimal balance between security, development and human rights in the use of emerging technologies.
As an example of best practice within the OSCE area, he presented the work of Azerbaijan’s Digital Development Council, which operates under the leadership of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva. He noted that the council is based on a comprehensive digital strategy and an interagency approach, while also underscoring the importance of international cooperation in the field.
