Over 8,000 square kilometres of Azerbaijan's territory contaminated by mines

The 14th meeting of the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development, chaired by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development Ali Ahmadov, was held on April 18.
At the meeting, Ahmadov noted that Azerbaijan is one of the most contaminated countries by mines and other explosive ordnance, according to preliminary studies, more than 8,235 square km of the territory is contaminated by mines and other explosive ordnance, APA reports.
The importance of campaigning in this direction was also stressed, both locally and globally, given that more than 60 countries in the world are now suffering from this problem that Azerbaijan is facing.
