Pakistan opens doors for constructive US-Iran dialogue
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that the country is ready to host the upcoming negotiations between the United States and Iran, according to Pakistani newspaper Dawn.
“Pakistan will be honoured to host and facilitate meaningful talks between the two sides in the coming days, for a comprehensive and lasting settlement of the ongoing conflict,” Dar said.
“We have remained actively engaged with the US leadership as well, as part of our efforts to de-escalate the situation and find a peaceful resolution of the conflict,” he added.
The minister made the statement following discussions with foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt in Islamabad. He described the dialogue as substantive and noted that the participants exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East.
Dar also informed his counterparts about the potential organisation of US-Iran talks on Pakistani soil.
He highlighted that Islamabad’s proposed peace initiative has received support not only from Cairo, Ankara, and Riyadh but also from China. According to Dar, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has positively assessed Pakistan’s mediating role.
