Pakistan's interior minister accuses Afghanistan of violating international law

12 October 2025 10:47

On October 12 morning, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed gratitude to the country’s armed forces for their decisive response to unprovoked attacks by Afghan forces on border posts.

According to state broadcaster PTV News, the Pakistani military carried out retaliatory strikes on Afghan positions across several areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. As a result, 19 Afghan posts, from which fire had previously targeted Pakistani territory, were captured.

“Fire from Afghan forces targeting civilians is a blatant violation of international law. The brave Pakistani forces delivered an operational and effective response. No provocation will go unpunished,” Naqvi wrote on X.

The minister emphasised that “the people of Pakistan stand behind the armed forces like a wall of lead,” adding that “Afghanistan will receive a fitting response—just like India.”

Sources reported that Afghan militants stationed at the posts were killed, while survivors fled, and fires broke out at several sites.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Pakistani army completely destroyed the militant battalion headquarters at the Manjoba camp, Jandusaar post, Turkmenzai camp, and Harchaar fort.

Security sources stated that the Afghan fire was aimed at facilitating a breakthrough by extremists linked to the TTP and ISIS into Pakistani territory. However, Pakistani units, “on high alert, responded quickly and powerfully.”

They added that dozens of Afghan soldiers and militants were killed as a result of the countermeasures.
