Pakistani minister: Death toll among Afghan soldiers rises to 331
The number of Afghan soldiers killed in clashes with Pakistani forces has risen to 331, while more than 500 people have been wounded.
According to Caliber.Az, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar shared the data on the social network X.
According to the official, airstrikes were carried out against 37 targets in Afghanistan. Pakistani military forces eliminated 104 enemy positions and took control of another 22. More than 163 pieces of military equipment were also destroyed, including tanks, armoured personnel carriers, and artillery systems.
Fighting between Pakistan’s security forces and the Afghan Taliban entered a third consecutive day on February 28 after overnight clashes intensified tensions along the border, prompting renewed international appeals for urgent dialogue.
Islamabad accused the Taliban authorities of providing safe haven to militants from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), whom it says are responsible for attacks carried out inside Pakistan — allegations the Taliban deny. Pakistani officials described the ongoing military actions as a response to cross-border assaults, while Kabul condemned the operations as a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty.
