Parents of dead Armenian servicemen rioting in Yerevan
The parents of the Armenian servicemen who died in the 44-day Armenia-Azerbaijan war gathered on May 17 in front of the building of the Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
A group of parents met with the investigator, but they interrupted the meeting and came out in fury, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Lawyer Vahe Hovhannisyan said told journalists that the parents asked the investigator Arsen Movsisyan to come out and provide the rest of the parents waiting on the street with the details of the criminal case being investigated, but the investigator replied that he was not a press secretary to go down and report to the parents.
The parents decided to block the entrances to the administration building and said that they would bring tents and start a sit-down picket in front of the investigation office
On April 26, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia received a separate requirement to prosecute Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as part of the case being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Committee.
According to the Spokeswoman for the Anti-Corruption Committee, Marina Ohanjanyan, the decision on the petition has been postponed until the essential circumstances are clarified for making a decision.
As part of the case being investigated by the Main Military Investigation Department, the parents of the dead servicemen are recognised as the legal successors of the victims.
Even though a petition was submitted to implicate Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan as an accused, he is yet to be interrogated.
