Pashinyan: Armenia could import or transit Azerbaijani gas in future in case of peace
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that he does not rule out the possibility of importing or transiting gas from Azerbaijan if a peace treaty is signed.
During the second World Armenian Summit, the prime minister recalled recent statements from Baku that suggested the option of gas supplies to Armenia in the future in case of reaching peace, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“We import gas from Russia, we import gas from Iran too. Some time ago statements were made in Azerbaijan that in the future Armenia could import gas from Azerbaijan after the establishment of peace. If we imagine a transit pipeline passing through Armenia’s territory, for example, towards Nakhchivan and Turkiye, this option can’t be ruled out too,” Pashinyan said.
Pashinyan stressed that no country can fully ensure energy security, therefore measures should be taken to increase it at the expense of various energy sources.
