Pashinyan: Armenia ready to ensure transit of goods from Türkiye to Azerbaijan "even today"
Armenia is ready to facilitate the transit of goods from Türkiye to Azerbaijan and back, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in the parliament.
“I consider Azerbaijan’s decision to lift restrictions on transit shipments to Armenia historic. It is important that Armenia takes corresponding steps. The import of the first batch of grain from Kazakhstan to Armenia via Azerbaijan will be carried out along the Azerbaijan–Georgia–Armenia railway route," Pashinyan said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
He added: "In response, Armenia is ready, starting even today, to provide transit of goods by road from Türkiye to Azerbaijan and back, as this is currently the only infrastructure available to us."
“At the moment, this is the only option we can implement,” the Armenian prime minister added.
On October 21, 2025, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijan had lifted all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia. This decision marked a significant step toward peace between the two nations. The first shipment under this new arrangement was a consignment of Kazakh grain, transported via Azerbaijan and Georgia to Armenia—the first such transit since the Soviet era.
