Pashinyan endorses power grid links with Azerbaijan, Türkiye
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the construction of power transmission lines connecting Armenia with Azerbaijan and Türkiye would strengthen the country's energy security while supporting its transition to greener energy.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Yerevan with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Pashinyan said expanding regional energy connectivity should go hand in hand with efforts to reopen transport routes under Armenia's "Crossroads of Peace" initiative, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The Armenian PM stressed that, alongside improving transport connectivity through the unblocking of regional links, it is equally important to enhance energy interconnections with neighboring Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
"This concerns the construction of power transmission lines and interconnectors, which can contribute both to energy security and the green transition," Pashinyan said.
His remarks came a day after von der Leyen announced during a visit to Baku that the European Union would allocate €200 million to support the development of transport connectivity across the South Caucasus, underscoring the bloc's broader efforts to promote regional integration and infrastructure development.
