Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party resonates with voters, Pashinyan says PM comments on elections results
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the reasons behind the Civil Contract party's victory in the elections to the Council of Elders of the enlarged community of Vagharshapat.
In a video posted on his Facebook page, Pashinyan shared his perspective on the results, emphasising a key distinction between his party's campaign and that of the opposition, Caliber.Az reports.
He suggested that the Civil Contract party's "message of hope and life" resonated strongly with voters, while the opposition’s focus on apocalyptic rhetoric failed to gain traction. According to Pashinyan, voters were drawn to a vision of the future centered on positivity and progress, which led to the Civil Contract’s decisive win.
The prime minister expressed his belief that this trend would continue into the 2026 parliamentary elections. He stated that Armenia had weathered significant challenges together, leaving a difficult past behind. Looking ahead, Pashinyan asserted that the country’s focus would remain firmly on life and development, not on bleak projections of doom.
Preliminary election results show that the Civil Contract party emerged victorious in the Vagharshapat elections, securing 15,298 votes. The Victory bloc came in second with 10,051 votes, while the Mother Armenia party surpassed the electoral threshold with 1,692 votes. With this, the Civil Contract party will be able to form a single-party government in the expanded community of Vagharshapat.
