Pashinyan’s ally: Türkiye restores border checkpoint with Armenia
Armenian Parliament Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan said that Türkiye is restoring the Alican border checkpoint, which corresponds to the Margara checkpoint on the Armenian side.
Rubinyan noted that it is too early to discuss further steps, and information will be provided “at the appropriate time,” Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
He added that symbolic measures to open the border are planned for early 2026, but the full process will be gradual.
“I don’t want to talk much on this topic, not because I have something to hide or don’t want to give you information, but because my experience in the process of normalising relations between Armenia and Türkiye shows that it’s better to wait for something to actually happen before making any statements. I do not want to in any way harm such processes,” Rubinyan emphasised.
