Passenger train damaged on railway line in Russia’s Samara region

A passenger train was damaged on a railway line near the border between Russia’s Samara and Ulyanovsk regions, disrupting services on the route, regional authorities and railway officials said.

Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said preliminary reports indicated that no passengers were injured and that the cause of the incident was still being investigated, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

According to the Kuibyshev Railway, the electric locomotive and the first carriage of a Moscow–Tolyatti passenger train were damaged as a result of an “external interference.” The train did not derail, and no passengers were reported injured. The locomotive driver sustained injuries, according to the railway operator.

Rail traffic on the Racheyka–Balashayka section has been suspended following the incident.

Authorities said train schedules would be adjusted in the coming period as railway services are affected by the disruption.
