Pedestrians hit by commuter train at Moscow railway station

A group of pedestrians was struck by a commuter train on the morning of September 28 at Tushinskaya Station on Moscow’s Second Central Diameter (MCD-2), according to the Moscow Railway, a branch of Russian Railways.

Electric train No. 7216, travelling from Nakhabino to Podolsk, hit the pedestrians after they crossed the railway tracks in an unauthorised area within the station’s platform zone, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

According to preliminary information from the Moscow Railway, the pedestrians had violated railway safety rules.

Emergency response efforts temporarily disrupted train services in the area. Trains were rerouted onto an adjacent track in the opposite direction, causing delays on the Riga and Kursk routes as well as on the MCD-2. Some services were also cancelled.

Passengers from the affected train were disembarked at Tushinskaya Station and were able to continue their journeys on subsequent commuter trains.
