Pentagon chief: Iran has chance for "a good deal, a wise deal"
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has stated that Iran has a “good chance” to reach what he described as “a good deal, a wise deal.”
Speaking at a briefing for journalists, Hegseth claimed the US blockade of Iran's ports had turned around 34 ships so far, Caliber.Az reports.
“To the regime in Tehran, the blockade is tightening by the hour. We are in control. Nothing in nothing out,” Hegseth noted.
He added that the blockade would continue “as long as it takes,” stating: “We have all the time in the world, and we're not anxious for a deal.”
Hegseth also criticised European allies, saying: “America and the free world deserve allies who are capable, who are loyal, and who understand that being an ally is not a one way street. It's a two way street.”
According to him, they are not relying on Europe, but the Strait of Hormuz matters far more to them than to the US, and perhaps they should talk less and hold grand conferences in Europe, and instead get into a boat.
“This is much more their fight than ours,” he emphasised.
