PM: Armenia plans no increase in military spending for 2026
Armenia does not plan to increase its military budget in 2026, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during a government briefing, commenting on earlier remarks by Finance Minister Vahé Avanesyan.
Avanesyan had previously indicated that, in the context of the recent signing of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan in Washington, the Armenian authorities intend to reduce the share of defence spending in the 2026 budget compared to 2025, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Pashinyan said it was likely that the 2026 budget would see no significant increase in overall expenditures, including defence spending, describing this approach as logical and reflecting the current government assessment.
At the same time, he emphasised that the authorities would continue to closely monitor the operational situation along the border and ensure that the government’s response remains adequate.
