Poland finds drone wrecks, a missile fragment following airspace breach
Polish authorities have reported the discovery of wreckage from seven drones and a fragment of an “unknown origin” missile following last night’s intrusion into the country’s airspace, Polsat News reported.
“Seven drones and one missile fragment have been found,” said Katarzyna Galęcka, spokesperson for the Polish Ministry of Interior.
According to Galęcka, the drone debris was located in the towns of Czesniki, Chosnówka, Wyrzyki, Krzywoszeb-Kolonia, Włodzin, Olesno in eastern Poland, and Mniszków in the Łódź Voivodeship in central Poland.
The fragment of the “unknown origin” missile was found in Wyhalew, Lublin Voivodeship.
Meanwhile, Jacek Goryszewski, spokesperson for the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command, emphasised that during the night of September 10, no missiles launched from outside Polish territory were detected entering the country’s airspace.
Goryszewski suggested that the missile fragment found in Wyhalew may be from a Polish interceptor missile. Regarding the drone wreckage, he noted that most of the discovered drones appear to have been “decoys” without any combat capability, based on photos that have emerged.
