Poland warns: Russian drones that breached airspace armed with explosives
The recent incident involving Russian unmanned aerial vehicles penetrating Polish airspace posed a far greater threat than initially assumed, Poland’s military leadership confirmed.
Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces, Major General Maciej Klisz revealed that several of the suspected Russian drones were equipped with explosives, contradicting earlier claims that they were merely “cardboard or paper objects,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.
The threat to Poland, he emphasized, “was real.”
The incident occurred during the night of September 10, when more than 20 drones crossed into Polish airspace. Several were intercepted and shot down, including by NATO fighter jets. The breach prompted the temporary closure of multiple airports as a precautionary measure.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk later described the situation as unprecedented and accused Russia of deliberate provocation.
