Polish foreign minister says he became target of illegal surveillance
Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has stated that he was subjected to wiretapping using the Pegasus spyware by the former government led by the Law and Justice (PiS) party, which was in power from 2015 to 2023.
Sikorski wrote on his X page that he had given testimony to the National Prosecutor’s Office as a victim in the case concerning the use of Pegasus, Caliber.Az reports.
Złożyłem w @PK_GOV_PL zeznania jako poszkodowany w sprawie użycia Pegasusa. Zwyrole podniecali się czytaniem moich prywatnych rozmów. Mam nadzieję, że winnych używania cyber broni wobec konkurentów politycznych dosięgnie prawo i sprawiedliwość.

“The perpetrators were pleased to read my private conversations. I hope those responsible for using cyberweapons against political opponents will face the law and justice,” he said.
Sikorski, born in 1963 in Bydgoszcz, served as Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2014 and then returned to the role in 2023.
He also held the posts of Minister of Defence (2005-2007) and Speaker of the Sejm (2014-2015) and has worked internationally as a war correspondent and academic fellow.
In his current tenure, he has stressed Poland’s role within NATO, pointedly criticised Russia’s hybrid threats, and advocated for stronger European defence and deepened transatlantic ties.
