President Aliyev inspects major renovation projects in Khankendi and Shusha PHOTOS/UPDATED
On September 19, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, conducted a series of inspections and inaugurations in Khankendi and Shusha, focusing on significant renovation and construction projects aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and cultural heritage.
Bulud Hotel renovation
President Aliyev inspected the progress of renovation work at the Bulud Hotel, part of the “Khankendi” Hotel Complex. Ramin Guluzade, Head of the President's Administrative Services Department, provided details on the hotel's amenities, which will span nearly 5,000 square meters and include five floors, offering 44 rooms and modern dining facilities, including a lobby lounge, café, and both indoor and outdoor restaurants. The hotel is expected to create over 50 jobs.
Reopening of Nizami Ganjavi secondary school No. 4
The President also attended the reopening of Nizami Ganjavi Secondary School No. 4 in Khankendi after extensive renovations. Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev outlined improvements made at the school, which serves 624 students. Renovation work began in May 2023 and included the addition of 11 classrooms, specialized laboratories, STEAM rooms, and various recreational facilities.
Khankendi State Drama Theatre review
President Aliyev reviewed planned renovations for the Khankendi State Drama Theatre, originally constructed in 1932. The theatre, a local cultural monument, requires major repairs due to damage incurred during the occupation period. The President was briefed on future developments to restore this significant site.
Inauguration of nursery-kindergarten No. 1
The inauguration of Nursery-Kindergarten No. 1 in Khankendi marked another milestone, following its renovation that began in May 2023. This facility now includes modern classrooms, a medical room, and recreational areas, catering to 80 children.
Construction of Convention Center at Victory Square
The President visited the construction site for the Convention Center at Victory Square, which will feature a four-story building with a hotel and various modern amenities to host national and international events.
Uzeyir Hajibeyli House-Museum restoration
In Shusha, President Aliyev participated in the reopening of Uzeyir Hajibeyli's house-museum after extensive restoration work by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. This museum, dedicated to the renowned composer and founder of Azerbaijan’s national opera, showcases a collection of preserved exhibits related to Hajibeyli’s life and work.
Inauguration of Flag Square
The day concluded with the inauguration of Flag Square in Shusha, designed by the Baku State Design Institute. The square features an amphitheater and extensive green spaces, with plans for a Victory Museum and other cultural facilities in the area.
These projects signify a commitment to revitalizing Khankendi and Shusha, enhancing both local infrastructure and cultural heritage, while providing modern facilities for education, hospitality, and community events.
