President Aliyev inspects restoration efforts in Khojavand's Girmizi Bazar settlement PHOTO
On September 14, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the settlement of Girmizi Bazar in Khojavand District to assess ongoing reconstruction and development efforts.
Girmizi Bazar, a historically significant settlement in the Karabakh region with important strategic and geographic value, came under Azerbaijani control in 2023 following a counter-terrorism operation by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Since then, extensive restoration work has been carried out in the settlement. Power and gas supply lines have been restored, an artesian well repaired, meter installation has begun, two transformers have been installed, three water reservoirs renovated, and over 11 kilometers of gas pipeline laid. Girmizi Bazar now hosts functioning social facilities and a production workshop.
Out of 300 private houses in the settlement, 71 were previously uninhabitable, while 229 were partially habitable. Currently, 10 houses are ready for occupancy. By the end of 2025, 217 houses are scheduled for restoration, with an additional 12 set to be completed in 2026. To date, 10 families, totalling 39 people, have returned to the settlement.
During his visit, President Aliyev also toured the home of Islam Dadashov, one of the resettled residents.
