President Aliyev receives credentials of ambassadors of several countries UPDATED
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has accepted the credentials of newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Sin Hong Chol.
The ambassador presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev, Azertag reports.
The head of state then had a conversation with the ambassador.
Expressing his gratitude to the head of state for the reception, the ambassador conveyed the greetings of President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un to President Ilham Aliyev.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked for the greetings, and asked the ambassador to communicate his greetings to the President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Congratulating Azerbaijan on its successful chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, the ambassador said that National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev`s visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in 1985 was remembered with pleasure. He emphasized the significance of successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea within international organizations, and noted the importance of developing cooperation between the two countries` parliaments, including the New Azerbaijan Party and the Workers' Party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Sin Hong Chol underlined the importance for the students from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to study in the field of oil and gas in Azerbaijan given the country’s rich experience in this sector.
The head of state expressed confidence that relations between the two countries would expand down the line in the fields of mutual interest. Recalling Great Leader Heydar Aliyev’s visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in 1985, President Ilham Aliyev noted that this trip gave an impetus to development of relations between Azerbaijan and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the following years during the National Leader’s leadership in the independent Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev recalled his meeting with high-level delegation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on the sidelines of the Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in 2019, and highlighted the ties between the two countries within the Non-Aligned Movement, UN and other international organizations.
The head of state found the need to cultivate relations between parliaments and ruling parties and expand cultural ties.
On the same day, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev accepted the credentials of newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan Ilhom Abdurahmon.
The ambassador presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.
During his conversation with the ambassador, the head of state underlined that Azerbaijan-Tajikistan relations are brotherly and friendly, adding contacts and reciprocal visits are carried out regularly through government members, parliaments, public organizations.
President Ilham Aliyev recalled his state visit to Tajikistan, saying consistent activities are undertaken to achieve goals that had been set during discussions held as part of the trip. The head of state underscored that he had witnessed development of Tajikistan and Dushanbe during his trip to this country.
The President of Azerbaijan noted there are a number of initiatives to ramp up bilateral cooperation in economic, trade, transport, logistics and other fields. The Azerbaijani leader pointed out that partnership relations between the countries had been reinforced.
President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of establishing region-to-region cooperation and direct intercity relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan.
The ambassador first conveyed President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon`s greetings to the head of state.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked for the greetings, and asked the ambassador to pass on his greetings to the President of Tajikistan, and invited President Emomali Rahmon to pay a state visit to Azerbaijan.
Ambassador Ilhom Abdurahmon noted that during the visit of the Azerbaijani President to Tajikistan, very important and fruitful discussions were conducted in terms of developing bilateral ties, and stressed the significance of the visits at different levels, including speakers of parliaments. The ambassador recalled the recent meeting of the intergovernmental commission, and lauded successful cooperation between the two countries within international organizations.
Ilhom Abdurahmon underlined that the opening of direct flights between Baku and Dushanbe will give a serious impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism. He said that the rapid development of Azerbaijan, the beauty of Baku and the architectural style of the city made a deep impression on him.
Besides, the Azerbaijani leader has accepted the credentials of newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Columbia Luis Fernando Cuartas Ayala.
The ambassador presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.
The head of state then had a conversation with the ambassador.
The ambassador noted that political ties between Azerbaijan and Colombia are well developed, adding a mechanism of political consultations between foreign ministries of both countries is successfully developing. Luis Fernando Cuartas Ayala pointed out that Colombian specialists are involved in mine clearance operations in Azerbaijan. He noted that there is great potential for the further expansion of relations between the two countries in the field of tourism.
The ambassador said that he joined the Aghdam trip of the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan and got acquainted with the restoration and construction works carried out in those areas.
The head of state hailed the political relations between Azerbaijan and Colombia, adding that the two countries enjoy fruitful cooperation within the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement, and constantly support each other.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that there are ample opportunities for the expansion of economic and trade ties, and stressed the importance of enhancing relations in the sphere of culture.
