Prosperous Armenia party seeks vote recount, alleges irregularities in election results
Armenia's Prosperous Armenia Party has announced plans to request a recount of votes cast in the recent election, alleging discrepancies in the publication of vote totals and broader violations during the electoral process.
The announcement was made by party spokesperson Iveta Tonoyan in a statement posted on social media, Caliber.Az reports.
According to Tonoyan, the party observed what it described as unexplained changes in the number of votes attributed to Prosperous Armenia as results were updated on the website of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
"During the vote count, the CEC website displayed one figure, but with each subsequent update, a different figure appeared—and it kept decreasing," the statement said.
The party's campaign headquarters said it would pursue all available legal avenues to investigate the alleged irregularities and challenge the results where necessary. Officials are currently compiling a list of polling stations where they intend to request recounts and are reviewing potential grounds for contesting specific decisions and actions by election authorities.
Prosperous Armenia also indicated that it may challenge the overall election outcome, citing what it described as widespread violations throughout the electoral process.
The party is led by businessman and former parliamentarian Gagik Tsarukyan.
