Putin inaugurates new Blagoveshchensk airport terminal via video link
Russian President Vladimir Putin participated via video link in the inauguration of the new passenger terminal at Blagoveshchensk International Airport (Ignatyevo), TASS reports.
The airport, the president noted, “is designed to provide an additional boost to the socio-economic development of the Amur region, and the entire Far East, expanding tourism and business connections with foreign countries.”
The new terminal, covering a total area of 26,000 square meters, was completed at the end of 2025. It will increase the airport’s capacity by 1,000 passengers per hour—600 for domestic flights and 400 for international—an especially important enhancement given the airport’s proximity to the Chinese border.
A distinctive feature of the terminal is its folded triangular roof, which symbolises the surrounding hills, lotus petals, and rockets from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. The airport complex is being developed as part of Blagoveshchensk’s master plan.
