Putin, Pezeshkian review Middle East developments in latest phone call
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone conversation during which they discussed recent developments in the Middle East, according to the Kremlin press service.
Pezeshkian also provided his assessment of the Iran–US negotiations held on April 11 in Islamabad.
The Iranian president congratulated Putin and all Orthodox Christians in Russia on Easter, while also expressing gratitude for Russia’s principled position in international forums aimed at de-escalating tensions, as well as for humanitarian assistance provided to the Iranian people.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between Russia and Iran.
Putin, in turn, expressed readiness to continue efforts toward a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict and to support mediation aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, adding that Russia will maintain active contacts with all regional partners.
