Putin proposes equipping CSTO with modern russian weapons
Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed a large-scale program to equip Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) allies with modern Russian weaponry, citing its proven effectiveness in real combat.
Speaking at the CSTO summit, Putin stated that Russia would continue to closely cooperate with allies on all matters of strengthening the CSTO’s military potential, emphasising that their main efforts would focus on enhancing the combat readiness of national contingents and improving the management of collective forces, Caliber.Az reports, citing TASS.
“We propose launching a large-scale program to equip the collective forces with modern weapons and equipment that have demonstrated their effectiveness in real military operations,” he added.
Putin emphasised that under Russia’s 2026 chairmanship, the country “will do everything to maintain continuity in the main areas of cooperation within the CSTO.”
Following this, Putin announced plans to start joint development of a new CSTO counterterrorism strategy.
He stated that Russia and its partners would continue efforts to identify and dismantle international terrorist groups and their cells, cut off their funding channels, and enhance information security.
The Russian leader stressed the importance of close cooperation with allies to prevent the spread of radical ideas among youth and to protect the shared information space.
