Putin ratifies deal for reciprocal Interior Ministry offices in Russia, Tajikistan

President Vladimir Putin has signed a law ratifying an agreement that provides for the mutual opening of Interior Ministry representative offices in Russia and Tajikistan, according to an official legal information portal.

The agreement establishes the legal framework for the operation of liaison offices of competent authorities responsible for internal affairs and migration matters in both countries.

It was signed in Dushanbe on October 9 last year as part of broader efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation on migration management and the fight against transnational crime.

Under the arrangement, offices of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and its Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment will be established in Moscow, while corresponding Russian representation will operate in Tajikistan.

Staff working in these offices, along with their family members, will be granted diplomatic privileges and immunities. The representative offices will function under the overall supervision of the Russian and Tajik embassies.
