Putin says US–Iran memorandum could help stabilise Middle East
Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed hope that the memorandum between the United States and Iran will help stabilise the situation in the Middle East.
Following the Russia–ASEAN summit, he said Russia unanimously welcomed the agreements between the Iranian and American sides on ending the military conflict and working on the parameters of a future peace agreement, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“We hope that the situation in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf will stabilise, which will also have a positive effect on global energy and food markets,” he noted.
Putin added that he hopes the US–Iran memorandum of understanding will serve as the basis for future agreements.
“I believe the fact that the document was signed by the heads of state — President Donald Trump and President Masoud Pezeshkian — also gives grounds to expect that this will be a serious document that will form the basis of future agreements,” he said.
